Wasla Electrical & Instrumentation

A precise, calm front for a 180-person E&I contractor in Sulaymaniyah, built like a well-marked panel: numbered terminals, white ferrules and one red jumper.

01

The scenario

The scenario: an E&I contractor founded in Sulaymaniyah in 2009, with 180 staff, its own calibration workshop and three ISO certificates, working as a subcontractor on gas plants and power stations. Its loop folders were exact, but its company profile was a slide deck of photos with no figures, and every new vendor registration meant collecting man-hours, certificates and equipment lists from four people.

Approach

  1. 01

Checked the name. No electrical or instrumentation contractor in Iraq or the Gulf uses Wasla; the firms with that name work in IT and outsourcing, so the name was kept with its full sector descriptor.

  2. 02

Drew the symbol from the trade: a terminal strip of three blocks, the first two joined by a red jumper. One deliberate connection that someone else can trace, which is what wasla means.

  3. 03

Took the palette from a switchgear room: graphite print on panel grey, white for ferrules and tags, and one jumper red used only for marks.

  4. 04

Chose Vazirmatn for Arabic because it also covers Kurdish Sorani, which a Sulaymaniyah company will need next, with Instrument Sans for English and Chivo Mono for tag numbers and figures.

  5. 05

Built the home page like a drawing sheet: the hero has zone markers and a title block of six figures, the services are a numbered terminal strip with standards, and every photo carries a tag.

  6. 06

Wrote the Arabic as its own text and set both languages at equal weight in the capability statement, which carries a drawing title block with document number, revision and sheet.
