Vendor registration readiness

What oil companies and EPC contractors in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region commonly ask for when they prequalify suppliers, and where the reviewer finds each item in your files.

This lists what is commonly requested, not the rules of any one company. Requirements differ between operators and change, so always check the current requirements with the company itself.

Does registration differ between Baghdad and Erbil?

Federal Iraq

  • Company registration with the Companies Registration Department, Ministry of Trade.
  • Tax clearance from the General Commission for Taxes; social security registration.
  • Contractor classification from the Ministry of Planning, where relevant.
  • State oil companies and international operators each register suppliers separately, through their own portals or questionnaires.

Kurdistan Region

  • Company registration with the KRG Ministry of Trade and Industry.
  • KRG tax clearance.
  • The Ministry of Natural Resources approved vendor list, with categories, some reserved for local companies.
  • Then a separate registration with each operator.

A company registered in Erbil that works in Basra, or the reverse, usually needs separate registration on each side. Your files should show both registration numbers, spelled the same way.

03

What should you never put online?

  • Bank account details.
  • Copies of IDs and passports.
  • Clear images of stamps and signatures.
  • Full scans of certificates with their seals. Publish a summary instead (issuer, number, scope, expiry, verify link) and send copies on request.
