Maqal Engineering & Contracting
A bilingual front for a Basra construction subcontractor, built around the data a prequalification reviewer checks: HSE statistics, equipment, yard capacity and registration.

The scenario
In this scenario Maqal has twenty-one years of site work and little of it on paper: a Word profile from 2014, an expired domain, and HSE figures kept in a spreadsheet. EPC contractors ask for the same data with every tender, and the Arabic and English versions never match.
Delivered
- Logo set: primary, reverse, compact and symbol, as SVG paths and transparent PNG
- Bilingual website, English and Arabic, responsive to 360 px
- Capability statement, 2 pages A4, Arabic and English side by side (PDF)
- Company profile: cover and inside spread
- Identity sheet: logo, symbol grid, colours and type
The identity in use

Scene generated with AI from this concept’s actual designs. The company is fictional.
The website
The capability statement, as a reviewer reads it
Each number on the document matches a row in the table.
| # | What the reviewer looks for | Where they find it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Legal registration, contractor classification and tax number | Vendor data section on the site and the legal table on page 2 of the capability statement: Ministry of Trade registration, Grade 1 classification, tax, chamber and social security numbers, labelled in both languages. |
| 2 | Valid ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certificates | Each standard shown with its edition, scope and certificate number on the site and on page 1, with copies offered on request. |
| 3 | HSE performance: man-hours, LTIF and TRIR per year, with the basis | A 2023–2026 table of man-hours, LTI, LTIF, recordables and TRIR, per 1,000,000 man-hours, employees and subcontractors, stated under the table. Same table on the site and in the statement. |
| 4 | Welding qualification and QA/QC control | 38 WPS qualified to ASME IX, 96 qualified welders, the radiography repair rate and an ITP for every package, plus a list of documents available for audit. |
| 5 | Owned equipment and fabrication capacity | Equipment table with capacities and quantities, a dimensioned plan of the 12,000 m² yard, and monthly output in dia-inch and tonnes. |
| 6 | Relevant past performance | Five projects from 2021 to 2026 with region, client type, role, key quantities and safe man-hours. Clients are named by type; references go out on request. |
| 7 | A named contact for prequalification | The tender manager by name, with direct phone and email, plus office and yard addresses, on the site and on page 2. |
Company profile

Identity
The braced bay: two columns, a beam and a V of bracing, the part that holds a steel frame against load. It reads as the M of Maqal. Heavy type, drawing-grid details, one cobalt brace, no ornament.
Approach
01
Listed the questions a southern-field prequalification form asks, then ordered the site in the same sequence: services, capacity, HSE and quality, projects, vendor data, contact.
02
Drew a structural identity: a braced steel bay that reads as the M of Maqal, graphite with one cobalt accent, Archivo and Alexandria at equal size.
03
Wrote Arabic and English separately, the Arabic in plain MSA with the terms Iraqi site engineers use, such as degassing station and dia-inch.
04
Made the numbers the content: a yearly HSE table with its basis, an owned-equipment table, a dimensioned yard plan and quantities for every project.
05
Used one source for the site and the documents, so the 2-page capability statement and the profile repeat the same tables and wording.
