Halqa Environmental Services
A compact identity for a 95-person oilfield waste company in Erbil, built on one idea a reviewer can check: every load closes on a signed manifest.

The scenario
The scenario: a waste contractor founded in Erbil in 2014, with its own treatment yard, 47 heavy vehicles and three ISO certificates, but trucks in plain white, a manifest typed in Word and a different logo on every document. Operators audit waste contractors for traceability; Halqa had the records but nothing that showed them as one system.
Delivered
- Bilingual logo: primary (LTR and RTL), reverse, mono, stacked and symbol, in SVG with outlined text and PNG
- Colour and type system with an identity sheet
- Stationery: letterhead, business card, envelope
- Four-part waste manifest form with numbering system
- Vehicle and skip livery, five waste-stream codes, PPE marking
- One-page guidelines sheet
- Applied in a bilingual capability statement and home page
The identity in use

Scene generated with AI from this concept’s actual designs. The company is fictional.
The website
The capability statement, as a reviewer reads it
Each number on the document matches a row in the table.
| # | What the reviewer looks for | Where they find it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Does the scope cover the waste streams in this tender, with the treatment method named? | Six services on page 1 of the capability statement, each with its method: solidification in lined cells, three-phase separation, bioremediation, licensed transport. |
| 3 | Is the company certified and licensed to handle and carry hazardous waste? | ISO 14001, 9001 and 45001, the environmental operating licence and the hazardous-waste transport permit, each with its status and reference number. |
| 2 | Can every load be traced from the well pad to final treatment? | The chain-of-custody loop in four steps, the manifest number format and the 2025 count: 6,480 loads, every manifest closed. |
| 4 | What is the HSE record, including road safety for a transport-heavy contractor? | Man-hours, LTI, LTIF, recordables and TRIR for 2023–2025 with the basis stated, plus kilometres driven and spills in transport per year. |
| 5 | Does it own the fleet and the treatment capacity? | Fleet counts by type and the yard in figures: 12 ha, six lined cells, 4,000 m³ bunded storage, a 60 t weighbridge calibrated every 6 months. |
| 6 | Has it done similar work for comparable clients? | Six projects by client type, location, scope and period, with reference letters offered under NDA. |
| 7 | Is it registered and insured, and who is the contact for tenders? | A registration table with legal name, registration, tax, licence and permit numbers, pollution liability insurance and bank reference, next to one named contact. |
Company profile

Identity
A closed ring with a seal tag where its ends meet: waste in, treated, recorded, returned. The tag is the manifest every load carries, and the ring is also the Q of HALQA.
Approach
01
Checked the name in English and Arabic. No environmental or waste company in Iraq or the Gulf uses Halqa; the first candidate, Turba, was dropped because a regional composting start-up and an environmental engineering firm already use it.
02
Drew the symbol from the job: a closed ring with a seal tag where its ends meet, like the numbered seal on a waste container. It also reads as the Q in HALQA. The Arabic and English names sit beside it at the same size.
03
Chose mineral neutrals (Basalt, Loess, Gypsum) and one accent, Permanganate violet, the colour of the oxidant used in water and soil tests. No green and no leaf or globe icons, the usual environmental clichés.
04
Designed the waste manifest as the core document: a four-part set (generator, transporter, yard, returned closed) with one number format, HQ-YY-NNNNN, matched to the weighbridge ticket.
05
Applied the system where an auditor sees it: tanker and pickup livery with fleet numbers, five colour-coded skip streams with Permanganate kept for hazardous waste, coverall patch, hard-hat marking and stationery.
06
Closed with a one-page guidelines sheet, plus a bilingual capability statement and home page built from the same parts, so the identity arrives already in use.
